The system has to fit the water—not the other way around.

Reverse osmosis can reduce a broad range of dissolved contaminants, but individual models carry different certified claims and produce different amounts of reject water. Feed-water pressure, membrane production, storage design, pretreatment, and maintenance all affect real household performance.

Before comparing equipment, identify the water source, obtain the most relevant current report or test, and decide whether treatment is needed at one fixture or every tap.

What we verify before a product can rank.

  1. Is the exact model certified for the contaminant shown in the household’s report or test?
  2. How much treated water is produced for each gallon sent to drain under the test conditions?
  3. What daily production and dispensing rate can the household expect at its actual pressure and temperature?
  4. Are replacement filters proprietary, consistently available, and clearly priced?
  5. What sanitizing, membrane replacement, leak protection, and remineralization steps are required?
  6. Does the ten-year cost include filters, membrane, water, service, and likely pump replacement?

Use the ranking responsibly

A score is a shortlist—not a water diagnosis.

Start with a current utility report or laboratory result, verify household flow and pressure, and confirm the exact replacement model before ordering. A highly ranked system can still be wrong for a specific home.
